Nearo is a network built by teens, for teens. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account you confirm you've read and accepted this policy.
1. Who can use Nearo
Nearo is intended for users aged 13 and older. If you are under 13, please do not create an account or send us any personal information.
2. Data we collect
- Account basics — your name, email address, and school. Used to create your verified profile and let other students recognise you.
- Listings & messages — items you post on Marketplace or Thrift and chat content you send through Nearo. Stored so the app can show your activity and deliver your messages.
- Usage analytics — pages visited, clicks, and basic device info. Helps us understand what's working and fix what isn't.
- Location — your city or school area, used for local-first matching between buyers and sellers. We do not track precise GPS coordinates.
3. How we use your data
- To run the core features of Nearo (profiles, listings, chat, thrift).
- To match you with nearby students and relevant items.
- To keep the community safe and enforce our Trust & Safety rules.
- To improve the product through aggregate usage analytics.
4. Sharing
We share your data only with essential service providers — for example, our authentication, hosting, and analytics vendors — strictly so they can power Nearo on our behalf. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers or marketing partners.
5. Your choices
- You can edit your profile or delete listings at any time from your dashboard.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
- You can decline this policy — in which case you won't be able to sign in.
6. Security
We use industry-standard encryption in transit, role-based database access, and row-level security so that you can only access your own data. No system is perfect, but we take protecting your information seriously.
7. Changes
We may update this policy as Nearo evolves. If we make material changes, we'll ask you to re-accept the policy before you continue using the app.
